1. Pipe cleaning ball

The pipe cleaning ball is made of chloroprene rubber, hollow, with a wall thickness of 10% of the pipe diameter (30~95mm). The one-way valve of the water injection and exhaust hole on the pipe cleaning ball controls the amount of water injected, thereby controlling the interference of the pipe cleaning ball. Pipe cleaning balls are mainly used to remove accumulated liquid and separation media in pipes, including the isolation of different oil products in the sequential transportation of oil products, and the removal of air in pipes during pipeline water pressure tests.

The disadvantage of pipe-cleaning balls is that they have poor ability to remove lumps and dust. For example, suppose the diameter of the branch pipeline is larger than 1/2 of the diameter of the trunk pipeline, or an equal-diameter tee is used. And there is no protective baffle. In that case, it is easy to cause a ball jam.

The length of the polyurethane foam pipe cleaning device is 1.75~2 times the pipe diameter. The interference is generally 25mm or 5%~10% of the pipe diameter. It has high elasticity, toughness, and certain wear resistance, and the deformation exceeds 50%. Foam pipe cleaners have a strong passing capacity and are easy to pass through bends. Even if they are blocked, they can rely on their high deformation performance to pass through, or increase the pressure to make it rupture, and automatically remove the blockage without pressure-holding accidents. The foam pipe cleaner’s foam debris does not damage the inner wall of the pipeline and is suitable for cleaning pipelines with inner wall coatings. The disadvantage is that the ability to remove debris is general, mainly used for pipeline water absorption and pollution cleaning. It can only be used once and the running distance is short.

3. Mechanical pipe cleaners

It can not only remove the accumulated liquid in the pipe. But also remove solid impurities. Steel brushes and scrapers can be installed as needed to enhance the cleaning effect. Mechanical pipe cleaners have a long service life and can generally run 800~1000km. Tracking equipment, diameter measuring plates, magnets, etc. can be installed. The disadvantage is that the passing performance is slightly poor, and it is not suitable for pipes with multiple elbows, valves, and large deformations. The mechanical pipe cleaners used in domestic pipelines are mainly disc-type leather cup pipe cleaners and two-way straight-plate pipe cleaners. The interference of disc-type leather cup pipe cleaners is generally 3%~5% of the pipe diameter. And the passing capacity is better than that of two-way straight-plate pipe cleaners.

The cup pipe cleaner maintains a fixed direction when running in the pipeline. It is mainly used to remove accumulated liquid, dust, and other dirt in the pipeline. The bidirectional straight plate pipe cleaner has better cleaning ability than the cup pipe cleaner. Especially since it can effectively remove suspended dirt in the pipeline. Compared with the disc cup, it wears faster, has a shorter running distance, and has better cleaning efficiency in short-distance pipe sections. The straight plate pipe cleaner can move in both directions. When the pipeline is put into production or the pipeline is not cleaned for a long time. If a blockage occurs, it can be back-blown to clear the blockage.

4. Diameter pipe cleaner

It measures parameters such as pipeline geometry, ovality, unevenness, and weld penetration. Those can provide original basic data on pipeline conditions. And providing a basis for pipeline maintenance and cleaning. The diameter of the diameter pipe cleaner is about 60% of the pipe diameter, and the cup has good flexibility and can pass through holes with a shrinkage of 15%. The key technologies of the diameter pipe cleaner are speed control, detection accuracy, reliability, and post-data processing and analysis. Before intelligent pipe cleaning (in-pipeline detection), the diameter pipe cleaner should be launched first to determine the internal condition of the pipeline and detect the pipeline’s passing capacity.
