Introduction

Product Overview and Definition

The Non Intrusive Pig Signaller is a non-intrusive pig signaler, commonly known as an external clamp-type pig signaler. This device is used for determining whether a pig has passed through oil, gas, and water pipelines during pigging operations. It is flexible and easy to install and remove, meeting the requirements of various pipelines.

Simply wrap and fix the signaler around the outer wall of the pipeline to operate. It resolves issues associated with mechanical pig signalers, such as sparking, mechanical failures, lack of explosion-proof capability, and inaccurate pig passing detection. It also avoids false and missed reports caused by electronic signalers due to interference.

Non Intrusive Pig Signaller Components

The Non Intrusive Pig Signaller consists of the following parts:

  1. Non Intrusive Pig Signaller Remote Display Mechanism: Features heating function, records passage time, stores up to 100 passes, supports remote transmission, explosion-proof rating of dⅡBT6, and protection level of IP65.
  2. Sensing Mechanism: The core sensing mechanism includes anisotropic magnetoresistive circuits, balanced amplification circuits, low-pass filter circuits, trigger circuits, and a CPU. It is complemented by remote switch circuits, display circuits, and reset circuits.
  3. Detachable Clamping Mechanism: Facilitates easy installation and removal.
  4. Connecting Wires: Used for signal transmission.
  5. Extension Rod (if needed, typically for buried pipelines).

Usage Features

During operation, the built-in timer automatically tracks time and displays standard time. When a pig with magnetic properties passes through, it displays the passage time and transmits a switch signal to the pigging process control center to monitor the pig’s progress. The display mechanism also stores and records the number of passages and times, with a memory capacity of 100 passes.

Applicable Range

  1. Temperature Range: -40 to 100℃.
  2. Suitable for all types of pipeline materials.
  3. Pigs can carry a magnetic source (permanent magnet of 3000-4500 Gauss).
  4. Suitable for explosive gas and flammable medium environments.
  5. Explosion-proof Rating: dⅡBT6.
  6. Protection Level: IP65.
  7. LCD Power Supply: External 24V DC (or powered by AA batteries, with only one power source used at a time).
  8. Remote Control Signal.
  9. Control Contact Capacity: 24V DC, 3A.
  10. Remote Control Signal Action Time: 5 seconds.
  11. Remote Interface: 1/2NPT(F), 3/4NPT(F), M20*1.5(F).
  12. If no external power supply is available, the device can be powered by built-in AA batteries.

Usage Methods of Non Intrusive Pig Signaller

Display Mechanism Usage

  1. Connection and Calibration: Connect the four-wire system at the remote interface (red: 24V DC, black: ground, two yellow wires: J-1, J-2 relay nodes), or install AA batteries, then enter the automatic calibration program. A light indicator will turn on, and calibration will complete within 10 seconds. The digital display will show the current time, indicating it is in working mode.
  2. Time Setting: If time adjustment is needed, press the “Set/Confirm” button. The digit to be adjusted will start flashing. Use the “Set” button to move the flashing digit to the right, and the “Time Adjustment” button to adjust the time. Press “Set/Confirm” to finalize the setting.
  3. Operational Status: During operation, the clock runs (press the “Time Adjustment” button to display the current time). When the pig passes, the device first displays the passage count, then the passage time after 3 seconds, and transmits the signal.
  4. Query and Clear: Press the “Query” button to check past passage counts and times. Press the “Clear” button to clear all passage counts (the current time cannot be cleared).

Remote Line Connection Method

Red wire connects to 24V DC+, black wire connects to 24V DC-, two yellow wires are J-1 and J-2 relay nodes. When a pig with a permanent magnet passes, the relay nodes close for 5 seconds, connecting the yellow wires.

Attention Points

  1. Power Supply Selection: 24V power supply and AA batteries cannot be used simultaneously.
  2. Voltage Range: The 24V power supply voltage should not be less than 12V or exceed 25V.
  3. Signal Line Requirements: 24V power supply and return signal lines can use the same power supply. Users need to connect the power supply to the ground of the equipment.
  4. Power Supply Recommendation: It is recommended to use a 24V DC power supply.
