Description
Foam Pig is a cylinder made of foamed rubber or styrofoam with a tapered head. Its tail or surface is cross-wound and coated with various wear-resistant scraping materials. Foam Pigs are characterized by soft, flexible material. Therefore, Foam pigs can easily pass through elbows with a small curvature radius.
Foam Pig is mainly used for water removal and drying inside pipes. When equipped with other auxiliary equipment, Foam Pig can remove impurities such as scale and corrosion products from pipes. Besides, Foam Pig can also be used for pipeline inspection, tracking, and other operations.
There are two types of conventional foam pigs. One consists of sponge products by processing. The other consists of polyurethane material by mold forming.
Sponge products have the advantage of simple processing. And Foam Pig price is relatively low, with good water absorption. While the disadvantage is that it is easily broken and the effective running distance is short.
The advantage of polyurethane foam pig is that the mold molding size is accurate. Its wear resistance is relatively good. Moreover, the pig can effectively operate for a long distance. However, there are also problems that require more molds, high production costs, and expensive raw materials.
