Description
1. Foam Pigs
Foam pigs, crafted from high-density foam, are indispensable tools for pipeline maintenance. These pigs come in various types, including bare foam pigs, brush foam pigs, polyurethane foam pigs, brush polyurethane foam pigs, and criss-cross foam pigs. They easily adapt to different pipe shapes and sizes, even navigating complex bends, ensuring comprehensive cleaning.
2. Types of Foam Pigs
Foam pigs serve diverse cleaning needs, each type tailored for specific tasks:
Bare Foam Pigs
Simple and Effective for Basic Cleaning Tasks: Bare foam pigs are ideal for straightforward cleaning, removing loose debris and minor contaminants. Their simplicity makes them easy to use and cost-effective.
Lightweight and Flexible: Made from lightweight, high-density foam, these pigs navigate pipelines effortlessly and conform to various pipeline conditions, including bends and varying diameters.
Brush Foam Pigs
Equipped with Brushes for Enhanced Cleaning: Brush foam pigs feature embedded brushes for a more aggressive cleaning action, dislodging and removing stubborn debris, scale, and other deposits.
Ideal for Removing Stubborn Debris and Deposits: These pigs are particularly effective in pipelines with significant hard deposits, ensuring thorough cleaning in heavily fouled pipelines.
Polyurethane Foam Pigs
Durable and Resilient: Polyurethane foam pigs, made from tougher foam material, withstand harsh pipeline environments, including high pressures and abrasive materials.
Effective for Long-Distance Cleaning: Their robust construction allows them to travel extended distances without degrading, providing consistent cleaning performance.
Brush Polyurethane Foam Pigs
Combines Durability with Cleaning Power: These pigs offer the resilience of polyurethane foam with the enhanced cleaning capabilities of embedded brushes, making them highly effective for demanding tasks.
Thorough Cleaning for Heavy Deposits: Designed to tackle substantial deposits, these pigs maintain their shape and effectiveness over long distances.
Criss-Cross Foam Pigs
Unique Design for Maximum Contact: Featuring a criss-cross pattern, these pigs maximize contact with pipeline walls, enhancing cleaning efficiency.
Excellent for Removing Liquids and Sediments: The pattern allows them to effectively remove liquids, sediments, and other impurities, ensuring the pipeline remains clear.
3. Features and Benefits
Foam pigs offer several advantages, making them popular in various industries. They are lightweight and flexible, ensuring easy navigation through pipelines. The ends are painted with polyurethane, and they can shrink between 3-5%, adapting to pipe contours. These pigs are highly effective for liquid removal, drying, sweeping, and general cleaning. Their cost-effectiveness and versatility make them suitable for both pre-cleaning new pipelines and maintaining existing ones.
4. Density Options
Foam pigs are available in different densities to meet specific cleaning needs:
Low Density: 35 kg/m³
Medium Density: 90 ~ 120 kg/m³
High Density: 120 ~ 150 kg/m³
EMT Criss-Cross Foam Pig Specifications

5. Applications
Foam pigs are utilized across various industries, including oil and gas, food and beverage, mining, chemical and petrochemical, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. Their versatility allows them to navigate uncommon piping, fittings, and valves, making them ideal for a wide range of pipeline cleaning tasks.
Pig Selection Criteria
Selecting the right pig involves considering multiple factors:
Pigging Targets: Determine whether the pipeline needs to be cleaned of liquid or solid impurities.
Pipeline Lifecycle Stages: New pipelines require cleaning of residues, while running pipes need regular maintenance.
Driving Medium Characteristics: Consider the type of medium (oil, water, gas) driving the pig.
Pig Interference: Account for the pipeline’s bend radius, diameter, and other structural features.
Pigging Process: Evaluate the driving pressure, operating pressure, and temperature variations.
Mechanical Strength and Wear Resistance: Ensure the pig can withstand the pipeline conditions.
